The Things I Love

Here, I will randomly post things that I love, use, buy and enjoy.
I love to shop and try new things so your suggestions are always welcome! J

First up: Mascara

I love full, luscious, long, gorgeous lashes and if I   were forced to have just 1 makeup item in my bag, it would be mascara...

And chap stick.

And lotion.

And blush.

I am a firm believer that you do NOT have to spend a fortune to get a great look especially on mascara.
Sure Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Clinique and LancĂ´me mascaras have killer advertisements and make you want to run right out and buy them but I think drug store brands are just as good!

Save the moola, try some different mascaras from Cover Girl, Maybelline or Rimmel and get the full lashes everyone loves!

The 2 mascaras I am using now:

Cover Girl Lash Blast Luxe in blackest black and Maybelline Volume Express 'the Falsies' in very black.

Love them both!!

Snow Day

In true Canada tradition, I went to bed last night with a warm almost spring-like breeze coming in through my window feeling good and sunshiny and happy.

This morning, I woke up to this!

Last night, there was no snow, only grass and leaves and warmness and happiness.

This morning-this!

Now, I don’t know if youknow this about me but I am a whiner when it comes to cold.

I am cold a lot even in the summer and so when winter hits, I want to cry and hibernate and eat and cry.

What would normally take me an hour to get to work took me 2.5 hours today. I almost didn’t come in.

When I woke up all grumbly and miserable and saw this snow, I wanted to hide my head and make it all go away.

Florida cannot come soon enough.

The Life I Lead

The other evening started off in much the same way that all evenings start off in our home. Matt was practicing his wrestling skills on me putting me in a headlock, picking me up and throwing me on the bed.
Performing the always interesting flying elbow in my direction and power bombing me on the couch.
I was busy telling him about my day as he was doing all of this and just going with the flow as I once again become his little wrestling doll for as long as needs until our daily at home wrestling show is complete.
These practices usually only happen in the privacy of our own home and never result in real injury (he is that good) and I always walk away unscathed and go about my merry way.
Well, after arriving at the gym a short while after practice, matt decides that we should go public with the Alyssa and matt wrestling show. Why he felt the need to put the moves on me in the gym, ill never know but as I put my weights away, I find myself again in the ever familiar head lock.
A trainer close by looks over quizzically probably thinking ‘what the heck is happening’ and considering whether or not to rescue me.
I give him a ‘hey-how ya doin-no worries-just a headlock- do da do do-this is normal-I swear! type of look.’
Then I notice some of the students from a boxing class at the other end of the gym, watching as my arm is twisted behind my back in the common “chain wrestling” move.
I give the class a wink, try to look all calm and give them my very best  ‘hey guys-lookin good-don’t worry-this is normal-keep pumpin the iron-keep punching those bags-good on ya-hehe’ look and wait for Matt to finish the latest series of moves.
“Hey babe, uh maybe this isn’t the very best thing to do in public” I say as my arm is twisted over my head. “Fake punching me probably is not the greatest public display of affection you could come up with.” I whisper to my wrestler.
“Why not??” Matt asks as he fake kicks me in the gut. I bowel over pretending I’m hurt (I’m a real good sport and always play along).
“Well ‘cause everyone is looking at us and well, we don’t want to promote like, fake abuse and stuff” I say.
“It’s all good-just pretend, now look ouuuuut!”
I see an arm coming for me as I prepare to fall back from my pretend clothesline…….

Just another day in the life.
Yes, this is the life I lead.

As we pack up our things and prepare to sell what we can-anyone need new clothes? Couches? A bed? Dresser? I can’t help but feeling sentimental about the first apartment Matt and I have shared together.
We have lived in it for almost 3 years now. There have been some great times in this little place. Some great memories.
This is the place we have been poor. We have been rich (not). We have grown up in our relationship as a couple. Gotten in arguments. Made up.
It’s a place where there have been family Christmases, cramming 10 or more people in these little rooms. There have been thanksgiving dinners where I cooked my very first turkey (I rock by the way-thank you www.howtocookaturkey.com!).
It’s in this place, that we have gone from using a futon as a dining room table to finally upgrade to a plastic table and borrowed chairs (thank you homeless shelter) to finally hitting the jackpot and having a new, solid oak table with matching chairs!(Thanks Ma!)
We have gone from (together) sitting on one lawn chair in the living room watching a 13 inch television that was occasionally in black and white. To having not only a couch but also a loveseat AND a 50” flat screen television.
We have laughed here. We have cried here.
I have dropped and spilled countless items of food, makeup, lotion, nail polish, cleaners and drinks on these floors.
I have blackmailed Matt into helping me clean up the countless items of food, makeup, lotion, nail polish, cleaners and drinks that I have dropped on these floors.
We have watched hours of television here, we have worked out here.
We have become different people here. Older, better, stronger people here.
I will miss this ol place and the fridge that makes its loud banging noises that Matt swears is normal.
The washing machine that always always eats my 2 bucks and never works!
The shower that constantly leaks and creates a kiddie pool on our bathroom floor most days of the week.
The fighting neighbors that always feel the need to get in arguments at the ungodly hours of 2, 3 and 4 in the morning.
It’s been fun-it’s been a blast!
Soon on to new things. Bigger things. Better things.
A new life for me and my love!

Right Now...

Right now, I am on a diet of veggies, protein and water and trying to lose the 10+ pounds I am sure I have gained from attending MW's sisters wedding. It was magical and gorgeous and beautiful.
I was on the beach and besides the rain, was perfection.
The 53 people didnt mind and everything went off without a hitch.

While MW and I were on vacation for the wedding, we set our healthy eating aside and decided to just let loose for the week we were gone....it was scary!
We not only let loose but together consumed copious amounts of alcohol, food, wine, cheese and cake!
The wedding cake was amazing and toward the end of the wedding night we parked our now significantly larger butts, on either side of the cake table, forks in hand and went wild!

Then surprisin us all, MW pulled a Ren McCormick and started dancing like it was going out of style.
I am pretty sure I laughed so hard I almost peed. Ew, I hate that word-peed and hate that I just said it but wanted to really portray the hilarity of that situation.

After that fiasco, we vowed to get back into our workouts and clean eating, harder and better than ever before and have been doing great the 4 days since our return.
Since our move to Florida is coming remarkably fast, we want to be looker better than ever for our debut in the Florida and wrestling world! What will I wear?!

Mmmm, craving some of that wedding cake about now........must resist......stick to diet!!!
Mmmmm cake!!

Stay tuned!

Me!

Why helloooo there!

I am Alyssa also known to family members as Sis, Lyss, Pishka (dont ask), daisy, butterball (lovingly made up by my older bro when I was little) and I'm sure there are other nicknames of which I am not aware.
I am a middle child with 2 siblings (brother and sister), a former country girl, a preacher's daughter, a personal trainer, a drama queen and a domestic diva.

Growing up as a country bumpkin I learned a thing or 2 about wearing plaid, playing on hay bales, milking cows, driving tractors and keeping myself entertained in the boonies.

Here, you will learn that after moving to the big city with my family, graduating high school and bar hopping with a girlfriend one night, I met the man of my dreams, my boyfriend (MW), who also happens to be a wrestler (think sports entertainment).
He has recently been offered a contract to a BIG, huge wrestling company and we are now preparing to move from our little home in Canada to Tampa Bay, Florida!
Yahoo!

Follow me as I pursue my passion in fitness and try to make a name for myself in the industry.
Laugh with me as I navigate my way through life going from a naive, church going country girl to a big time city girl and prepare to move away from my family to start a new life with my wrestler love!

Thanks for stopping by!
